Criminal Defense
Facing criminal charges is a
very intimidating experience. You feel scared and probably very alone, as though
nobody really understands what you’re going through. You may be a little
embarrassed about your situation. At the very least, you wonder what is going to
happen to you, your family, your property, and your job.
I can appreciate the stress
that being charged with a criminal offense causes in your life. And I know that
the criminal court system is a foreign place for most people – a place where
things happen that you don’t understand and offers are made that don’t make
sense to you. It becomes a confusing maze of legal words and court proceedings
that are almost mysterious.
If you find yourself in this
situation, I can help you work your way through the system. I develop a
connection with my clients and take their cases as seriously as they do. I take
the time to explain everything that is happening – what each hearing is about,
what the next steps will be, and how it affects your case. I am available any
time to help you understand where you are in the system and what is going to
happen next. And I handle all levels of crimes, from misdemeanors to felonies.
I have a good working
relationship with the judges and prosecutors in the River Parishes. After the
evidence is received from the prosecutor, you and I will review this evidence
and decide on a plan of action. However, the decision whether to take a plea
offer is strictly yours, and I will stand by whatever decision you make. All I
can do is advise you and make sure that you understand what is going on so that
you can make a fully informed decision.
If you have been arrested and
are being held in custody, I will come to the jail to talk to you about your
case. And no matter where I meet with you, I will answer all of your questions
and try to clear up as much confusion for you as I can. Then we can work
together to deal with the charges.
